Designing and building mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, from tools to engines and machines, are the primary responsibilities of mechanical engineers. They design and build machinery for a wide range of mechanical applications, including mining, automobile manufacture, fleet maintenance, and more.
The qualification is divided into parts in such a way that when taken in conjunction with related N part courses (e.g. N4+N5+N6), learners can receive the National N Diploma after completing the required practical work component of either 18 months or two years, depending on the individual occupational sector.
